Tears of the Kingdom was simply known as "Breath of the Wild 2" for a long time until Nintendo ultimately gave it a name (the company was simply referring to it as a "sequel" until it was named while "Breath of the Wild 2" was the community-given name). When a name was given to it, the release date was also revealed, and as of this writing, the May 12th release date has not been delayed.
This past week, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom made a cameo at the February Nintendo Direct, and Nintendo gave fans a brand-new trailer for the game. More gameplay was demonstrated, a new Collector's Edition was unveiled, and Nintendo also enabled pre-orders. Zelda fans should still have a few more announcements and displays to look forward to before the game actually launches on May 12 on the Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo emphasized more of the game's expansive globe and some of the enhanced tools Link will have available in the new video for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The Tears of the Kingdom plot, which has been kept mostly a secret, received some fresh indications in the game.
People were looking for figures of Link in Tears of the Kingdom promo for information about what kinds of gameplay mechanics would be present in the sequel compared to those in Breath of the Wild, and Nintendo clarified at one point what kind of "tears" it is referring to within the name of the game.
For the Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be out on May 12.
