There have already been several closed tests done for the upcoming highly anticipated game, Spligate 2. Most of these closed tests have only been for a select few, who luckily got to test and try it out before anyone else. The developers have finally announced an open alpha test, that will allow both console and pc players to come and check out what they've been working on so far.
"Join the Sol Splitgate League, where the future is bright–it takes a team to bring home victory, but only one person can top the leaderboard. Suit up and portal into the action as an elite Ace in Splitgate 2, a 4v4 free-to-play shooter redefining what it takes to be #1. Choose your faction, customize your weapons, master your portal skills, and play with friends as you compete for glory in a galactic arena."
Since the release of the first Splitgate, the FPS community has been absolutely buzzing since the company came forward to say it would be releasing a sequel. Splitgate 2 doesn't have an actual release date just yet, however the company wants players help on testing certain parts of the game, weapons, and maps.
The alpha test will be available to Ps5, Xbox Series, and PC. Although the game will be coming out on Xbox One and Ps4, the alpha testing will only be done on the newer consoles and PC. The open alpha will start February 27th and end on March 2nd, giving you a whole weekend to play around with it. If you would like to participate in the portal-shooting-action, visit the game's storefront page of your choice, and download the alpha to begin. There are no sign-ups and no restrictions, so it's an easy download and play.
The alpha test will include the new 8v8v8 multi-team portal warfare mode on a map that is 20 times larger than any previous map. There will also be multiple variations of king of the hill, Splitball, (which is a mixture of Oddball and capture the flag) and Firecracker (a new spin on search and destroy). Team deathmatch and Hotzone will also be back with some improvements. Three maps will also be featured, plus access to a total of 24 weapons, nine pieces of equipment, and map-specific power weapons to pick up. While that sounds like so much, developers have stated this is less than half of what will actually be available on full release!
So if you love portals and shooters, this game is most definitely for you. Let me know in the comment if you're excited about it too!
