Welcome to this week's Indie Showdown, where I tell you about all the amazing Indie games that have released or will be releasing this week, to feast your controllers on.
Indie’s never get enough recognition, so I’m here to share in all the juicy details about the best ones. Let’s check it out!
The first game I have for you today, is a beautiful 2D platformer called Anima Flux.
The only human city located on the space ark is subjected to an organized mutant invasion. For the sake of survival, a theocratic totalitarian regime sends its best troops to rescue the city and eliminate the threat. Take control of two elite soldiers, combine their unique abilities and skills. Finesse your way around through the most ferocious foes. Act bravely and fearlessly. After all, you can trick death, by transferring your anima with the latest implant technology. Fight your way through swarms of mutants through a desolate, dystopian space city and save humanity’s last stronghold, if, of course, anyone is still alive…
This game is gorgeous, and super colorful, while giving off super dystopian vibes.. And it’s soundtrack is amazing.
Anima Flux released on PC and is controller compatible, the game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Switch later this year.
The second game I have for you on the Indie Showdown is a dark, turn-based style combat, with my favorite.. Zombies.
Dead season is about a random group of four survivors who find themselves thrown together by their shared struggle for survival, in a world overrun by the zombie hordes. Their faces etched with weariness and determination mirror the dark and harsh realities they face. In this single-player turn-based tactics game, take control of this band of survivors as they navigate through the midst of a zombie infestation, scavenging for resources and completing objectives, while confronting the endless threat of the undead, and surviving through narrow escapes and close calls.
Dead Season was released on PC, and even though it has some mixed reviews, the streams I watched so far made the game look pretty fun, but also super difficult. If you would like to check it out before you buy, they have a demo for you to try it out!
Third up on our Indie Showdown list, is a creepy, pixelated, psychological, Lovecraftian horror that is magnificently story rich. Faith: The Unholy Trinity.
Our story begins on September 21, 1986, two priests arrived at the Martin Family home in rural Connecticut to investigate an apparent case of demonic possession. Only two people would leave the house alive. FAITH is a pixel horror game inspired by the era of classic 8-bit gaming and the “Satanic Scare” of the 1980s. Use your holy crucifix to perform exorcisms, fight back against possessed cultists, and cleanse haunted objects. Discover a world of dread, isolation, and mystery as you explore haunted forests, abandoned churches, and the inner sanctums of a Satanic cult.
Faith: The Unholy Trinity was released on PC back in 2022, and released this week for Switch. The PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X release has yet to be announced.
Fourth up on our Indie showdown list, is an emotional, story rich anime. Filled with romance, mystery and adventure.
Last Time I Saw You is a heartfelt coming-of-age tale interweaving themes of first loves, family dynamics, and ancient curses. Journey with Ayumi as he embarks on a quest to find the girl who lingers in his dreams. Delve into the mysteries of why a dark forest beckons him, uncover the spirits and entities dwelling within, and unravel the means to lift the curse that plagues his town.
The beautiful tale, Last time I saw you, was released on PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and PC.
Last up on our Indie Showdown list is a highly anticipated game, and has been asked about countless times in my inbox. Well, here it is, the realistic, 3D, boxing sim.. Undisputed.
