At its foundation, Death in the Water 2 is a wave-based shooter, but it also features frightful horror, intense tension, and pulse-pounding action.
Each dive (wave) usually begins with some exploration when the pace is a little slower and you have a chance to find treasure and other objects as well as getting oriented. As you explore the wrecks, reefs, and ruins, the suspense increases. Similar to how real sharks behave, shark-like creatures are passive and might not always attack you unless provoked.
Any time during the dive, Death (the Kraken) will start a feeding frenzy with you as the main prey and launch a mind-control attack on all creatures. Before moving on to the following wave, you must survive and achieve the dive's goal. As you move on to the next dive, the challenge increases and the pace of the game quickens.
