Shalom family,
Welcome to our first real, unfiltered discussion inside the Circle. Today, we are pulling back the curtain on an industry that is completely dominating the public health and wellness conversation right now: GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc.).
If you’ve been following my journey, you know I am currently sharing my 100-pound weight loss series on YouTube. But what I haven't discussed openly on that platform—and frankly cannot discuss there due to censorship—is my professional history with these medications, and the deeper reasons why I ultimately chose a different path for my own body.
About three years ago, I worked as a coach for a leading metabolic health company. I want to say upfront that there is a lot of good in their program, and they utilize incredible, solid science regarding metabolic health, biology, and lifestyle resets. My time there taught me so much about how the body functions on a cellular level. However, observing the broader GLP-1 industry from the ground level is what ultimately led me to a profound shift in perspective, and why I chose never to use these drugs for my own health reset.
What I Observed on the Ground Level
While the baseline science of metabolic conditioning is powerful, layering life-long pharmaceutical dependency on top of it revealed a heartbreaking pattern. I saw how desperate people were to lose weight, often at the absolute expense of their overall quality of life.
Rampant Yo-Yo Dieting & Weight Regain: The reality the mainstream media glosses over is that very few people were successful at keeping the weight off long-term through medication alone. I watched people cycle right back into extreme dieting and yo-yo patterns. The moment they stopped the medication, their natural hunger came back with a roaring vengeance, proving that you cannot permanently manipulate the natural body your Creator gave you.
Failed Permanent Surgeries: Perhaps the most eye-opening part of my time in the industry was realizing how many clients had already undergone permanent weight-loss surgeries. I worked with numerous individuals who had already been through gastric bypass surgery or the gastric sleeve—and those procedures had failed them over time. Now, the medical system was layering symptom-masking injections on top of failed, invasive surgeries. It proved to me that no matter how much you alter the physical stomach, if the mind and spirit aren't transformed, the body will eventually return to its old patterns.
The Non-Responders: There were also a number of clients who were "non-responders." They took the highest doses, suffered the side effects, and their bodies didn't respond to the medication to lose weight at all. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all medical miracle.
The Immense Fear of Stopping: For those who did lose weight, it created an intense, psychological dependency. There was an immense, paralyzing fear among clients about getting off the medications. They felt trapped, believing that if they stopped the weekly injection, they would instantly lose control.
Severe Physical Complications & Structural Depletion: I watched clients suffer from actual stomach paralysis (gastroparesis), where the digestive system completely shuts down, sometimes leading to hospitalizations. On my screen, I saw structural depletion instead of vibrant health—clients looking gaunt, drained, dealing with hair loss, and losing massive amounts of critical muscle mass.
A Toxic Relationship with Food: The medication didn't cure food issues; it distorted them. I watched clients become completely obsessed with tracking every single calorie while simultaneously becoming terrified of food because eating became a source of intense anxiety and physical discomfort.
The Hidden Dangers They Fine-Print
Beyond the daily side effects, the long-term medical risks associated with these drugs are incredibly dangerous. We are talking about serious, life-altering conditions like appendicitis and warnings for thyroid cancer. When you look at the actual data, the side effects are simply not good.
The Profile of the Trap: Type A and Perfectionism
I began to notice a very specific profile in the clientele drawn to these chemical solutions. The vast majority of them were perfectionists and high-achieving, Type A personalities. They were used to controlling every aspect of their lives, and they approached their bodies with that same rigid, demanding energy.
But beneath that mask of perfectionism, there was a devastating amount of self-hatred. They hated the skin they were in. In his powerful book, Exposing the Spiritual Root Causes of Disease, Dr. Henry Wright breaks down how a fractured relationship with yourself—including self-hatred, guilt, and rejection—is a direct spiritual root cause of physical disease. (Note: I am an Amazon Affiliate, so if you want to grab a copy of this life-changing book for your own library, you can support the Circle by using my link here: https://amzn.to/4nM5rCk). I stood out as a coach because I refused to just look at the scale. I wanted to address the mental, emotional, and spiritual layers, because you cannot lose weight while actively hating yourself. You cannot heal a body you are at war with.
A Kingdom Perspective: Pharmakeia and Honoring the Vessel
As a woman of faith, I have to look at this through the lens of biblical wisdom. The Bible is incredibly clear about respecting and not altering the body, which is the temple of the Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit). I truly believe that resorting to life-altering surgeries and synthetic, symptom-suppressing medications is a form of altering Yah's natural design.
In the original Greek text of the New Testament (The Renewed Covenant), the word used for sorcery or witchcraft is pharmakeia (Strong’s Greek definition G5331). It literally means the administering of drugs, sorcery, and magical arts. Ancient pharmakeia used chemicals to bypass a person's natural state of being and consciousness.
When you look at the deep spiritual reality of relying on chemical substances to control your flesh rather than the Ruach HaKodesh, these GLP-1 medications mirror exactly what the Bible warns against. Turning to a weekly syringe to chemically force your flesh into submission—rather than walking out supernatural self-control through the Holy Spirit—is a modern form of this exact chemical shortcut.
In fact, when you look at how the culture celebrates, worships, and runs to these injections for a quick fix, it’s clear that the GLP-1 has become the modern-day Golden Calf of the weight loss industry. This isn't just a metaphor—it is a literal reality. Novo Nordisk, the pharmaceutical giant that actually manufactures Ozempic, uses the ancient Egyptian Apis Bull as their official corporate logo. They have literally stamped an ancient pagan bovine idol—the exact type of idol the Israelites built out of convenience and impatience in the wilderness—onto the very machinery driving this industry. Just like the people of old, society today is bowing down to a pharmaceutical symbol to bypass the deep spiritual refinement Yah wants to do inside of them
Lately, I’ve seen a rise in Christian influencers claiming that "God told them to get weight loss surgery or to go on a GLP-1." I have to stand flat-footed in my truth and say: I don't believe that. Yahuah is an Elohim (God) of order, discipline, and supernatural healing. He doesn’t send us to a pharmaceutical syringe to bypass spiritual transformation. He tells us to pray, to fast, to immerse ourselves in scripture, and to have others intercede for us in community. True deliverance requires us to submit our flesh to Him, not chemically turn it off.
I Understand the Desperation: Fat Bias is Real
Please hear my heart: I say all of this with zero judgment. In fact, I understand the deep desperation that drives people to these extremes, because at one point in my life, I was right there.
Fat bias is entirely real. It affects your everyday life, your career, your relationships, and the very way people perceive and treat you when you walk into a room. The psychological weight of carrying extra pounds in a world that judges you for it is heavy. But trading your physical health, your quality of life, and your spiritual dependency on God just to escape that bias is a trap of the enemy.
Why I Decided Against GLP-1s for My Own 100-Pound Journey
When I committed to my own massive health reset, the thought of using a GLP-1 crossed my mind, especially knowing the industry inside and out. But I ultimately said a firm no, and here is why:
I refused to trade one prison for another. I didn't want to escape the weight only to end up trapped in a cycle of calorie obsession, hair loss, fear of food, and lifetime dependency on a weekly syringe.
I chose to respect my body’s natural design. I wanted to heal my metabolism from the roots. That meant doing the hard, beautiful work of cutting out refined sugars and flours, focusing entirely on clean, whole food nutrition, and allowing my hormones to balance out naturally.
I needed to walk the talk as a mentor. How could I authentically look you in the eye and teach you how to rebuild your life and wellness from the ground up if I took a pharmaceutical shortcut that bypassed the very transformation process I teach? My 100-pound journey had to be a testament to what the body can do when it is properly nourished and aligned.
Let’s Talk About It
This exclusive space is a judgment-free zone. If you are currently on a GLP-1, or have considered one, you are safe here. But as your mentor, it is my job to give you the raw reality that social media algorithms try to suppress. True restoration cannot be found in a syringe; it is a daily, intentional practice of reclaiming your health from the roots up.
I want to hear from you in the comments below: Do you see the connection between perfectionism, self-hatred, and the pressure to use chemical shortcuts? How can we begin to love our bodies back to health using prayer, fasting, and true alignment?
Let's unpack this together. 👇🌿
