Bringing Autistic individuals closer to the wider world through travel

Hey 👋 I just created a page here. You can now buy me a coffee!
I have recently started 'Autism Adventures Abroad' - my new initiative to use my own experiences related to all things autism through the medium of travel. A common theme I hear from others is that travel isn't something typically seen as 'suitable' or 'possible' for autistic people, but I am now challenging this perspective through my own stories and experiences travelling around the globe in search of a better and fulfilling life - as well as working with industry leaders to provide a more accessible/inclusive tourism space for autistic travelers looking to begin their own journeys.
With this in mind, I made Autism Adventures Abroad with a twofold aim in mind:
- To encourage young autistic adults to travel by sharing my personal journey, insights, hints , tips – as well as practical advice. Whilst also spotlighting examples of best practice in the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors, in relation to initiatives developed to enable neurodivergent individuals to travel/visit with confidence that their needs will be met, and staff will be understanding and supportive.
- To work with the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors to advise and support them via consultancy work, workshops, talks, seminar and conference inputs and an ongoing series of blogs on the Autism Adventures Abroad website and guest articles in several travel and disability magazines, to review and improve their accessibility offering to attract and support neurodivergent adults – a huge untapped customer base.
It's no secret that autistic people have the highest unemployment rate amongst disabled groups, and I have unfortunately became part of that statistic since graduating university (despite my best efforts to pursue a professional career). This is now my best chance at advocating for myself and other autistic people, pursuing my passion of traveling, and leveraging my knowledge and experience to help push the tourism industry to create a more accessible/inclusive environment for autistic travelers. With that in mind, please consider clicking on one of the buttons above to donate a little to either buy me a coffee or support my business initiative. Your generous support enables me to keep continuing Autism Adventures Abroad by creating new and better content, as well as cover business development costs. Please only do this if you are financially able to do so, as these are challenging times for us all – Thank you for the support! 😊
