So here's a fun Paradiddle-Diddle 'indepenence' warm-up exercise I used to keep my chops up on holiday. A paradiddle-diddle has this sticking pattern RLRRLL and we're going to play this twice followed by a single paradiddle before switching our lead hand. SO, it looks like this RLRRLL (X2) RLRR......THEN REVERSE ALL - LEADING WITH THE LEFT HAND ( Or start whole exercise on the left etc.)
The paradiddle-diddle is a Grade 2 rudiment in the ABRSM Syllabus so I think everyone - no matter what stage you're at can have a go...even if it's really slowly! And it's a great rudiment to be able to play!
NOW, for the more advanced players if you want to incorporate your feet do so as described in the video. SO, leading with the Right Hand...count on your Left foot. And then leading with the Left hand...count on your Right foot...SIMPLES...😉
