LIE # 1: “GOD WANTS ME TO GIVE MY BEST IN EVERY AREA OF MY LIFE. IF I’M NOT GIVING 100% ON EACH TASK, RESPONSIBILITY, AND COMMITMENT, I’M LETTING GOD AND OTHER PEOPLE DOWN.”

Does this sound like a thought that runs through your head sometimes? .... Or, if your anything like I used to be, does this sound like a thought that constantly and relentlessly runs through your mind all of the time?

When you finish a work project, do you feel like a slacker, knowing that it could have been a little bit better, even though your client/coworker/etc.. will be more than happy with it .... Or [that] no one will ever notice the extra effort you put in?

Do you feel like kind of a failure, or a let down, or disappointment .. for buying food for your small group.. Bible study.. [etc..] from the grocery store on your way there, instead of planning ahead to cook something thoughtful and pinterest-y, like some of the other members of your group?

This LIE is a great mindset to adopt ... IF you want to feel guilty almost constantly. (No thanks!) BUT . . .

TRUTH # 1: GIVING YOUR BEST TO THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY AND OTHERS ACTUALLY MEANS INTENTIONALLY GIVING LESS THAN 100% ON CERTAIN THINGS . . . ON A LOT OF THINGS, IN FACT. ASK YOURSELF...

What are some areas of my life where my standards for myself are higher than they need to be?

Decide what percentage of perfection you’re going to shoot for. Then ask yourself, how can I intentionally give less than 100% in those areas and free up energy for more important things?

TRUTH #1 [CONTINUED]: TAKE ACTION ... Write down one tiny action step to help you follow through with what you decided above!

Example: Put a sticky note on your computer screen to encourage you to write shorter, less perfect emails, or tell your husband you’re going to clean this weekend for just one hour, and be content with whatever you got [get] done when the hour’s up!

LIE # 2: “THERE JUST AREN’T ENOUGH HOURS IN A DAY TO ACCOMPLISH ALL THE THINGS I NEED TO GET DONE.”

Raise your hand if you’ve ever uttered this statement.

I sure know I HAVE! Honestly, I've used this [statement] MORE times than I can count or recall. [and] Sadly, I believed this to be so true.. for MORE than half my life! I had mistakenly, naively, unintentionally and blindly accepted and adapted to this "New Age" statement [and state of mind], ideology and mentality, like so MANY others.

See, I had unknowingly [and very blindly] listened to this LIE and deception from our enemy [satan] ... and I unintentionally adopted this mindset .... and it seems that it just spiraled and webbed it's way into my mentality, outlook, perspective and day to day [daily] life. I didn't even realize the implications... the severity.... the negative effects.... the aggravation and agitation, etc.. that this caused for me and my mindset, and ultimately on and in my life.

Now, when it comes to this "New Age" Ideology.. Concept.. and/or Statement.... It is usually expressed in a whiny and/or overwhelmed fashion. It can stir and come about from.. extreme annoyance and extreme stress [among MANY other things!]. It can, If you tend to be a bit [more] on the dramatic [extra, eccentric and/or theatrical] side, this statement is often accompanied by a big sigh or by throwing up your hands in defeat [and/or in aggravation, frustration, annoyance, stress and anger, etc..], or being too overwhelmed.

(Not like I speak from personal experience or anything . . . Okay, okay . . I totally do . . lol . . . Well used to . . and sometimes I still do lol. We're ALL imperfect humans here, BUT, . . . . thank GOD ALMIGHTY for our PERFECT Lord and Savior!).

BUT, I get it. I completely, truly, totally, utterly and wholeheartedly GET IT and UNDERSTAND!

Life feels like you’re on a hamster wheel sometimes, like you’re running and running, but getting absolutely nowhere. It might be even worse than that: you may feel like you’re running on a treadmill . . . . while someone keeps pushing the button to increase the speed faster and faster and faster. Not only are you getting nowhere, but you find yourself continually running faster and faster to get nowhere.

Twenty-four hours just doesn’t feel like enough. You’re actually convinced that it’s NOT. After all, you have a lot of important work to do.

(By the way, I sincerely believe that. You do have important work to do!) BUT . . .

TRUTH #2: GOD WILL ACCOMPLISH THROUGH YOU, WHAT HE NEEDS TO ACCOMPLISH IN THE TIME AVAILABLE. YOU MUST TRUST THAT, MY FRIEND. YOU MUST TRUST HIM & IN HIM!

After all, God is the one who came up with 24-hour days, right?

You’re probably [and most likely] NOT going to get more hours than that, so you’re just going to have to deal. [As my mama would say: "suck it up, buttercup!"]

If God Almighty thinks 24 hours is good enough, it is.

Amazingly, God even invites, instructs and urges, His beloved children to rest from their work. The Israelites took one full day off per week and had multiple other celebrations that God commanded them to observe by taking time off.

What was the point?

Well, God had plenty of reasons, but among them were reminding His people that they were NO longer slaves (this applies to us . . . in a metaphorical and literal sense!) . . . . And pushing His people to TRUST HIM to provide, even when they stopped working.

Do you trust God to provide?

ASK YOURSELF . . . .

What are some things in my work or life that I need to trust God with?

How will trusting God, lighten my burden of feeling like I don’t have enough time for "that thing"?

TRUTH #2: [CONTINUED] TAKE ACTION ... Commit to trusting God with something you wish you had more time for.

Choose one specific thing and write one small action step below,

[And/Or] Write a prayer to ask God for help. (Prayer is an action step, too!) [I highly recommend and insist on this vital, critical and crucial step!].

Show up for each day and do your best, my friend; then fall asleep with peace knowing the rest is in Almighty hands.

LIE # 3: “I’M MORE LIKE MARTHA THAN MARY, SO MY AMBITIONS MUST BE ALL WRONG.”

One fateful Bible story, has doomed [almost] EVERY driven Christian woman with a to-do list . . . . ever since we Christians got our hands on the book of Luke.

Jesus [Yeshua Hamashiach] utters those famous words, “Mary has chosen what is better,” while Martha tattles that Mary isn’t chipping in on the preparations that need to be made for Jesus’ [Yeshua] stay.

Mary was sitting at Jesus’ [Yeshua] feet doing nothing but listening to Him . . . Martha was doing housework . . . And Jesus [Yeshua Hamashiach] said Mary had chosen what was better.

As a result, we read stories like this or see a friend devote hours at a time to prayer, scripture reading, bible studying, Church involvement and activities [etc..]; and we heap [monumental, tremendous and massive] guilt [and pressure] on ourselves for being productive.

We feel guilty for working or for running errands any time we could be spending that time on relationships or on God instead. BUT . . .

TRUTH # 3: THIS IS REALLY A MATTER OF HEART, INTENT AND MOTIVATION.

You can be like BOTH Mary and Martha. And you should be.

There’s a time to be still and be in God’s presence, and there’s a time to get stuff done and do work.

In fact, God values both of those seemingly contrasting activities.

ASK YOURSELF . . . .

What’s the motivation behind my biggest goals at this point in my life?

Do I Need To:

1). Release my guilt and lean into my goals with confidence, because they’re God-pleasing?

OR:

2). Reevaluate those goals and maybe spend a little more time soaking up God’s Word at Jesus’ feet?

Goal #3: release my guilt reevaluate my goal

TRUTH #3: [CONTINUED] TAKE ACTION . . . . Choose one of the goals [your goals] above. Next write out your next step(s) to take, in order to release your guilt and/or reevaluate your goal(s).

Example: schedule time to journal and get real with yourself + God about your unnecessary guilt or a goal that needs realignment, etc..

YOU DID IT, MY FRIEND!

You unpacked some ugly lies holding you back.

Now you’re equipped with TRUTH.

You can battle those lies spewed from the enemy [satan], whenever you hear yourself saying or feeling them. (You can help your loved ones, friends and others battle them as well!)

Make sure you take some time to focus and to take action. (Pinky promise?)

Whatever lies you’re battling, whatever guilt you’re hanging onto, whatever insecurity that’s keeping you stuck . . . You can let go of them. I know, it's easier said than done, but through The Lord God Almighty, you have the power to be FREE!

Live into God’s purpose for your life with confidence.

Set beautiful goals that honor God and then go reach them!

Spend your time on the things you know matter most in this life.
