I love free and open source software. It's what taught me most of what I know, and at some point using it stopped feeling like enough. I wanted to give something back. So now I write my own, and I release all of it free and open.

These days you buy something and the company still owns it. Features get locked behind a subscription. The device phones home. Software you already paid for can be taken away in an update. My projects go the other way. Your device, your data, your control. Nobody grants you that. It's just what owning something is supposed to mean.
