Hello! We are Tom & Shelley Ruddock from View35 Films. We absolutely love making films and are passionate about getting stories of hope and raw emotion into the world. We are independent Filmmakers and we have self funded all of our own film productions! But now we are moving up and making FEATURE FILMS which have much higher budgets. We’d also love to share a little more of our heart and vision for this industry and why we do what we do (more than just because making films is awesome)…. 

Below is our mission and ministry for both helping people ONSCREEN & OFFSCREEN.

It's no secret that we’re not saving lives through making Films, however we are really passionate about telling stories​ that reflect the real world with real people from every background. We know we have a great responsibility with Film - the entertainment industry has such constant global outreach and people are shaped and molded by so much of what they watch and we spend so much time now watching TV and Film (whether that’s a healthy amount or not). But the point is that we can learn through Film, we can be moved, shaped, inspired and challenged & we really want to make Films that bring a sense of deep hope. 

There’s alot going on in this world, at all times, a lot of heartache and pain, just a few minutes on the internet today can overwhelm you with those facts and we are really passionate about offering a new perspective on certain topics but of course through the medium of entertainment and ALWAYS through showing hope. We want people to feel uplifted and though sometimes we feel it’s important to tell stories that have heartbreak… we also want to offer a way through it - a way forward or a way to turn things around. So that is how we want to help people ONSCREEN. 

But OFFSCREEN we are also incredibly determined and passionate to make our sets a safe and enjoyable place. We have a fundamental belief in being kind & looking after people, after all- people are at the heart of everything we do! We value excellence really highly and having things run smoothly efficiently and producing absolutely fantastic material is crucial… but we also value ensuring that people are looked after - and we don't believe those two things are mutually exclusive. We will never choose the shot/scene over the wellbeing of a person. People come first.

The Film industry can be a really tough industry at times, (It’s not all glamor) It has real pressures and time schedules and a lot of the time people don’t always get treated the best & that’s not always intentional - of course it’s hard to be your best and patient self when your 5 hours behind the schedule and you were forced to miss lunch and the budget has been cut. 

& look we also know - we won’t always get it perfect ourselves but it’s a real CORE VALUE of ours to prioritise looking after people well and make it a constant necessity to check in on people, feed them well, know everyone on your set by name and not by their job role. Which may sound simple but they can be the first things to slip away sometimes. And genuinely when people feel valued they go the extra mile anyway which makes happier people with a more efficient workflow. 

So when we make Films we aim to;

- Make something excellent, that looks brilliant and digs deep into people's hearts.

- To create stories that will raise questions and emotions that will not just pull on the heart strings but hopefully bring some healing against the names and branding we’ve too easily accepted over our lives.

- Keep it enjoyable!!

- Keep it a safe environment!!

- Remind people that regardless of their experience or their job role that they are important and that we all deserve to be treated with respect and support.

- We want to encourage people and champion them. People are worth time, care and investment and whilst Filmmaking can be really tough we believe it should also be fun and that we should enjoy the process as we make something special!
