"Don't bend; don't water it down; don't try to make it logical; don't edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly." ― Franz Kafka
Welcome to My Advocacy Work
I firmly believe that each of us has a responsibility to society.
We must:
- - Speak up for justice when we witness wrongs, and
- - Take action when we can.
By doing so, we strive to:
- - Prevent injustices from repeating,
- - Mitigate harm and damages, with remedies for those affected,
- - Eliminate ongoing disadvantages for individuals and society as a whole,
- - Learn and grow from past experiences, and the lived experiences of those afflicted, and
- - Preserve empathy and compassion for all—men, women, and children alike.
Advocacy requires courage. It can be a difficult and sometimes lonely path, but we must stand firm, guided by our conscience and the strength of our convictions. Let the knowledge of our hearts strengthen us so that we may wield the sword of truth, knowing it will protect us all in the end.
Care ~ Commit ~ Carry Out
I advocate from a place of deep purpose, born from personal experience. I speak out for my child, for children everywhere, for young girls, women, single women, victims of abuse, and those who have suffered due to financial negligence and abuse of power.
Areas of Reform That I Focus On:
- - Legal Industry
- - Financial Services Industry, including Banking, Insurance Legislation, and Corporations Act
- - Local Government and Administration
- - Education System
- - Welfare System
- - Family Court System
- - Mental Health and Well-being, with a focus on emotional and behavioural health
Cause and Demographic
My primary focus is on single parents and their children. To understand my advocacy fully is to know the depth of my personal experiences. While I am a private person, I am also committed to honesty, unafraid to speak the truth about my upbringing and other events beyond my control.
I advocate, write, sing, and create to:
- - Express and share my experiences.
- - Connect with others.
- - Educate and inspire change.
- - Contribute to the betterment of society.
- - Improve the quality and meaning of life, ultimately enhancing well-being—for myself, those around me, and the wider community.
Most advocates for change work quietly behind the scenes, often without recognition or compensation. They act out of a sense of duty and passion, frequently at great personal sacrifice. My journey as an advocate began from a necessity to address the injustices I experienced in my own life, from my childhood into adulthood.
Born in Sydney in the late '60s, during a time of inequality, sexual harassment, the Vietnam War, police corruption, institutional abuse, and a culture of silence around domestic violence and child abuse, before child support was a thing, has profoundly shaped my convictions. Despite these societal norms, I have always believed in the importance of giving children a voice and addressing issues openly rather than hiding them away. These beliefs have driven my commitment as a parent, my personal and professional development, and my work as an advocate for justice, health, and well-being.
After an extensive career in the legal industry, and near two decades as a self-represented litigant due to the repercussions of negligent financial advice, I have seen first-hand the impact of injustice. Now, as I move into my senior years, I feel an even greater urgency to raise my voice against the violations of human and social rights. I am determined to help create a future we can be proud to leave to our children.
I'm grateful for your presence here and for your support. Any assistance you provide goes toward maintaining my advocacy efforts, including writing submissions to the Senate and other bodies, and sustaining an online presence.
Thank you for your support! I wish you all the best in health and happiness.
Warm regards,
Dianne
