About Chris Mayhew
Engineer: Manufacturing & 3D Mechanical Design Specializing in Industrial Prototyping & Functional FDM
At Work I specialize in the design of mechanical components for electrical power systems, custom assembly jigs, and high-precision test fixtures. My professional workflow involves taking concepts from CAD to functional reality—utilizing 3D printing, injection molding, and metal stamping. I also consult on the procurement and optimization of industrial factory infrastructure.
At Home (The Workshop) I’ve built a fully equipped workshop in Auckland, NZ, to bridge the gap between digital design and physical manufacturing. My primary machines include:
Tormach PCNC 1100 S3 CNC Mill
Tormach 8L CNC Lathe
I regularly machine custom tooling and fixtures across a diverse range of materials, including Aluminum, Tool Steel, Stainless Steel, POM (Acetal), uPVC, and various composites.
The Goal I apply these same industrial standards to my 3D printing projects. My models are designed for functionality and reliability, typically provided with STEP files and tuned 3MF profiles to ensure "first-time right" results for the community.
