Who's behind this project:
I'm Jennifer. I’m a writer, VR producer and artist loving on my home country from abroad.
I’m the daughter of a librarian and a total book lover — there is always a (messy) stack of books next to my bed.
And I’m doing my part to bridge the USA's divisiveness.
I've collected book suggestions for every state, done some of my own research and created a master list to share. The aim is for book lovers to read as much as they can by authors from states they don't know (or maybe even like!). We can increase our understanding of each other by delving into the pages of books set in a state and written by someone from that state.
Doesn't this sound better than looking through your fingers at all the nasty comments on the post you're reading?
Each state has stories to tell
I’ve lived in four states and visited around 30. I say “around” because some of these were just drive-through visits. I’m sure some of you have been to all 50 states (and Puerto Rico!), but did you really get to know the people who lived there enough to care about them or understand what makes them tick? The novelists who have lived in these places and chosen to set their books there surely have.
Interviews of authors and readers will be looked into as part of the project.
