What is Lipi?
Lipi is a free app to learn Gurmukhi Lipi one of the main writing systems for Punjabi.
Why is Lipi?
Lipi exists because me and my family wanted to learn Punjabi, but we could not find a good place to do so. There are plenty of apps to learn languages such as Duolingo, but most of these apps only have Hindi and not Punjabi.
And although many Gudwaras (Sikh Temples) offer Punjabi classes they are not always accessible for everyone. Furthermore many people who may be older and wish to learn Gurmukhi may not be able to attend these classes because of work or other reasons.
How is Lipi?
Lipi aims to be a free and high quality app to learn Gurmukhi accessible to everyone everywhere. Lipi will achieve this, buy being accessible on as many platforms as possible. Although mobile apps will be the main focus because almost everyone has a phone these days. Some key things to remember about Lipi:
Lipi will be free and ad free (This is because Lipi relies on donations and seva)
Lipi will be available on the most popular platforms: Android, Windows, iOS, Mac, Linux. (iOS, and Mac will probably come later in development as it is harder to get your apps on those systems)
Lipi currently has a small team (aka just me) so I am sorry for the slow development, but if you give me your patience I promise to give you my best.
Where is Lipi?
Well Lipi is currently available for download (for Windows and Linux) on the shop page of this website for FREE. I need some testers for the android version, but that will be out eventually.
