The state of our mental health and wellness seems to be the starting point for everything these days.
Taking the time out to reflect on me by “checking the pulse” of my own individual mental wellness when working from home is a daily must. Much like tracking one’s food intake when managing body weight, blood glucose, or anything else that is vital to be functioning at optimal levels, is a daily essential and not just a “to-do”. The way to get started in the process of crushing the daily essentials of life can start with the courage to simply look at yourself in a mirror, no not take a selfie. Just meet with your reflection in real-time as your mind flows through and sorts out a mix of thoughts in a pattern. Ask this question…How are you feeling today?

A self-assessment or pulse-check of feelings expressed mentally and emotionally, often show up in the following physical ways:
How vibrant are my eyes?
How glowy is my skin before applying makeup?
How glowy is my skin once makeup is applied?
Run a posture check, Am I sitting up straight? Or am I slouching?
Is there tension and pain in my body and where is it parked?

As I move through these thoughts, I give focus to my breathing, being sure to correct my breath with deep inhales from in my belly and not my chest. I think I read somewhere about how breathing incorrectly can cause air to become trapped within the chest, contributing to the build-up of tension and stress in the body. Stopping at this moment to take the time to think about where I am mentally, spiritually, and emotionally is the beginning of the alignment. This helps me connect emotionally with the life I choose to live and not just settle for the life that is happening out of my ability to control. How I choose to spend these moments is completely up to me how I choose to respond to life’s moments is completely up to me.
Today, I choose to respond to every moment with presence, poise, purpose, and a warm smile.
Would you join me on this path? If you said yes, then smile with me.
