"Honestly I don't know either , I woke up and I was there… Also why would anyone in a good mental state enter such a dangerous place of their own accord" Steve asked while completely ignoring the man's expression and glare.

He didn't know how he had gotten there and since they had basically confirmed that the room event had really taken place, it meant that there was more to this entire thing than just his reincarnation.

He had assumed that he had reincarnated into the body of one of their associates but with what he was hearing, he didn't know what to think.

"I find that hard to believe sir, no one just wakes up within a gate that isn't a monster" The other man said as the atmosphere got even heavier.

"Again, what the fuck is a Gate?" Steve asked confused by what they were saying

"Sir, if you will please place your hand on this" The blonde guy said as he brought out a small dish sized apparatus.

It had a dim orb on it as well as several weird carvings on it. It looked like something straight out of Elden ring or some other fantasy game.

"What does this do?" Steve asked as he complied.

He was suspicious about everything but from what he had seen so far, he was led to believe that these two men before him also had magical powers.

He could refuse but then what would happen?... He definitely couldn't beat anyone with mystical abilities, he could barely beat a slightly above average person in combat.

Yes, he had lied when he said he was a black belt at Krav Maga… Well he was if watching their practice on YouTube counted as training.

As soon as he touched the orb, it light up but it was barely noticeable. He didn't know what that meant.

"Is that bad?" He asked

"No sir, this is a Hunter Assement device meant to test your mana, the dim light only means that you are at E-rank"

"E-rank?, where does that sit exactly?... Would I be able to break boulders and run alongside a speeding vehicle" Steve said as a wide smile appeared on his face.

Who wouldn't smile?... He was just confirmed to have magical powers, so why shouldn't he be happy about it.

"Some E-rank have been known to do some of those things" the dark haired inspector spoke in an awkward tone

"Do you really know nothing about what is going on around here?" the blonde haired one asked.

"Well, One minute I was going to work and the next minute, I was inside that room… If I knew what was going on, do I look like the type to actively seek my death" He answered

"Okay then, thank you for your time, Mr Grant... Also you can come to the association for a better assessment if you aren't okay with this" The man said as he stood up

"Thank you" Steve answered.

He didn't know what the point of them coming was nor did he knew who or what the Hunter Association was but he was excited to know that he was a superpowered person.

After they left, the smile on his face disappeared as he looked forward with a frown on his face.

"They couldn't see it?" Steve asked, somewhat confused

Before him was a large holographic screen with the words 'Welcome Architect' written on it.

He didn't know where it had come from but ever since he awakened it had been there, he assumed that the inspectors would be able to see it as well but they both acted as though it didn't exist.

"Is it a normal phenomenon?" He asked

He didn't know what was normal in this world, so he couldn't tell if they acted as though it didn't exist because it was a normal occurrence, or it was just because they didn't see it.

"Hello sir, is there any other thing, you would need?" the familiar female voice was heard as Steve turned to its source.

It was the nurse who could now be seen standing just a few metres away from his bed.

"Ehm.. Yes, actually, may I know who will be paying for all this?" Steve asked

"That's easy, here in Korea, Hunter medical bills are handled by the Government. So you can rest easy, you are currently under Government care" The lady said with a smile

"I see, then thank you" Steve replied with an equal smile.

If the expenses were being handled by the government, then he didn't have to worry about anything.

Since that was off his mind, he quickly turned his attention back to the holographic system before him.

"Accept" he said out loud while staring at the options given.

As soon as he said so, the screen changed as what looked like a status page appeared before him.

"It's really like a game" Steve laughed

Name: Steven Grant

Age: 35

Title: Architect's Protégé

Mana: 200

Abilities

Protégé of the Architect

Architect's Touch

Architect's Insight

"Where is the level and such?" He asked surprised at how simple the page was.

Normal status pages showcased the level, stats and other features of the player, this one didn't do any of that.

It was as though it was created solely to inform him of his abilities. It was just as its name implied, a 'Status page'.

Protégé of the Architect: As the Protégé of the architect, the user is capable of learning all construction related skills and abilities with increased ease than normal.

Architect's Touch: As an Architect, the user is capable of manipulating any structure based on their level of knowledge or understanding of said structure

Architect's Insight: The user gains a rudimentary insight into the nature or structure of any object or structure.

"That's all?" he asked, surprised.

Nothing he was seeing here seemed to fit in with what he exactly wanted. Didn't the books say that when one reincarnated and git a system, they would get abilities that would put them at the top of the world.

If the others got that, then why was his, like this?

"As long as I understand the structure of said thing" Steve quoted as he looked beside him.

The phrase was a bit weird, did he have to understand the very makeup of the structure or did it mean the principle of how it worked.
