Korea Gas Corporation loses 10 consecutive games, the most since its founding,
beating LG and Hyundai Mobis to take sole third place
Professional basketball team Seoul Samsung escaped from a long 8-game losing streak.
Samsung won 84-63 in the 2023-2024 CheongKwanJang Professional Basketball match against Daegu Korea Gas Corporation held at Jamsil Indoor Stadium on the 23rd.
With this, 9th place Samsung (3 wins, 10 losses) escaped an 8-game losing streak and widened its lead over the lowest placed Korea Gas Corporation (1 win, 12 losses) to 2 games. KOGAS has fallen into a swamp of 10 consecutive losses, the most since its founding.
The match between the two teams, who were on 8-game losing streak (Samsung) and 9-game losing streak (Korea Gas Corporation), respectively, was a competition for the lowest place and attracted attention as to who would escape the losing streak.
For Samsung, Kofi Coburn (17 points, 11 rebounds), Ishmael Lane (19 points), and Kim Si-rae (15 points, 6 assists) played their part. Veteran Lee Jeong-hyun also contributed with 9 points and 8 assists.

Daeheon Lee and Sam Josef Belangel played hard with 27 and 18 points, respectively.
Samsung did not miss KOGAS' poor offensive ability from the beginning and succeeded in taking the lead by accumulating points one by one.
In particular, they dominated the second quarter with a 21-4 lead and ended the first half with a large lead of 46-21. At one point in the third quarter, it seemed like they were winning early, taking a 35-point lead.
On the other hand, the Korea Gas Corporation lost momentum when Nicholson was ejected for five fouls.
However, Korea Gas Corporation did not back down easily. They countered with goals from Belangel and Lee Dae-heon. KOGAS trailed by 8 points, 58-66, with Belangel's two points with 5 minutes and 40 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Samsung did not panic. They immediately poured cold water on the team with Lane's score, and later, they overcame the crisis with Kim Si-rae's consecutive free throws.
KOGAS played the game without foreign players after even Anthony Moss was ejected for five fouls with 4 minutes and 34 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Samsung put an end to the game with veterans Kim Si-rae and Lee Jeong-hyeon at the forefront.
