We want everyone, especially more women, mothers, caregivers and children, to have the option to get around for free, through reducing the social, cultural and practical barriers to riding bikes.
With a deliberate grass-roots effort to cultivate a bicycle ecosystem that relies less on imports, fewer people will be dependent on private cars and paid lifts to get around, and more people will have the freedom of mobility.
To do this, we need:
- more affordable high quality bikes for people and families;
- to run a community bike hospital - with a space, tools and parts to share plus a focus on keeping children's bikes working to be able to ride to school;
- local capacity building in bike maintenance and repair + climate resilience.
Ultimately, this initiative is about improving mobility resilience in the Zenadth Kes/Torres Strait.
Buying a coffee helps to progress this initiative.
All proceeds will contribute to caffeine as fuel to:
> get more high quality bikes up to and/or working in the Torres Strait;
> buy accessories, such as those that enable mothers and caregivers to carry their children and cargo (e.g. baby seats, bike racks and baskets).
> buy the necessary equipment, tools, parts, consumables or other items - to set up and stock our community Bike Hospital and support a Kids Bike Club; and
> enable training and support for local person(s) to obtain professional skills in bike maintenance and repair.

Please note these specifics may change over time to fit the overall objective of improving access to affordable and sustainable transport options in the Torres Strait / Zenadth Kes.
