About Umberto
Pleased to meet you. I am Umberto Altomare.
For many, history is a dead weight of dusty dates and names to be memorized for an exam. For me? It is a living organism, a labyrinth of mirrors where every reflection hides a truth that someone, once upon a time, tried to suffocate. You will never find me hunched over a school textbook reciting the 'official version' like a dogma. Those are reassuring narratives, written by the victors to let us sleep soundly.
I prefer the insomnia of research.
I move through the streets of Italy, but while tourists gaze at the facade of a Renaissance palace, I search for the Masonic mark on the cornerstone or the discrepancy in a forgotten parish archive. I consider myself an investigator of the unknown: my hunting grounds are the shadows, the hidden folds of time, and the secrets whispered behind closed doors centuries ago and never reopened.
