Hey, Friends! Creating your own destiny is a little like one of those Choose Your Own Adventure books. Do you remember those, or am I showing my age? I remember most of the fun being not knowing what would happen from one part to the next. Come to find out, that’s not really all that fun in real life! In fact, it actually kind of sucks.
Each generation has been sold a dream. Now, maybe you’re a part of the generation who was fed the American Dream with a nice house and white picket fence. Maybe you’re like me, and you’re a part of the “college is the road to success” generation. No matter where you fall on this timeline, one thing is for sure: an idealized vision or hope-driven propaganda doesn't guarantee anything in this life.
I’m currently looking for another job, and honestly, the job market right now is scary! Having any sense of security, whether that be health, financial, or anything in between, is nothing short of a blessing. Every one of us is juggling something on a grand and a minor scale. We are doing our best with what we are given, but to be honest, sometimes what we are given just doesn’t cut it.
If the dreams we once dreamed have now turned into nightmares, and if we’ve spent so much time daydreaming that our daily lives are passing us by in a blur, what choice do we have but to do something radical, something unexpected, and something purpose-driven that helps us to create our own destinies?
Question for you, my friend: What actions have you taken to secure the life you want?
If no one is coming to save you, it’s a pretty safe bet that no one is coming to do the hard part for you. It takes strength, creativity, a lot of nerve and a sprinkling of stubbornness to continue striving for something you cannot see, you’ve never felt, and you only hope to obtain.
How many times have we been told that we can do anything, and how many times have we stopped believing in our true potential? Eventually, you’ll get tired of feeling like you’re missing out on the life that you want. While there’s no guarantee that you will get it, you’re guaranteed not to if you don’t even try.
It’s your life to live, but it’s also your joy to create, your peace to protect, and your legacy to leverage.
