Virgin Monk Boy has been busy in the monastery print shop.
I’ve created two prayer cards that take aim at something I think Christians, especially progressive Christians, need to confront much more openly: Christian nationalism and the fear-driven politics being aimed at Muslims and other minorities.
The first is Overcoming Christian Nationalism. It’s a prayer for Christians who believe faith should form us into people who love our neighbors, not give us permission to dominate them. Christian nationalism has become very good at wrapping political power, grievance, and fear in religious language. This card is my small attempt to offer a different kind of Christian witness.

The second is Pray for the Heart of America. This one is broader. It’s a prayer for a country that seems increasingly tempted to make enemies out of its neighbors, especially Muslims, immigrants, LGBTQ people, and anyone else who can be turned into a useful political threat.
Yes, they’re Virgin Monk Boy cards, so there is a little mischief in the presentation. But these aren’t gag cards.
I’m printing them on heavy stock and beginning to send them to progressive churches, clergy, interfaith communities, and people willing to stand publicly against Christian nationalism and Islamophobia. I also want them circulating at protests, community events, church gatherings, and anywhere else somebody might need a reminder that cruelty does not become holy just because someone puts a cross next to it.
And I’m making them freely available.
Download them. Print them. Copy them. Hand them out. Leave them at your church. Give them to your pastor. Take them to a protest. No permission needed.
If you’d like to help VMB put more of these into the world, buying a coffee here helps with printing, paper, postage, and getting batches of cards into the hands of people and congregations who can actually use them.
The cards are small.
The movement they’re pushing back against isn’t.
And sometimes resistance begins with giving someone something worth reading.
