Have Gone Back To Needle Felting

Have Gone Back To Needle Felting

Gee! I'm so indecisive!!

I switch from clay to crochet, from photography to writing...Can't seem to make up my mind what I want to do.

I'm in the process of making a blue bird brooch and I'm surprised at how good he looks, to be honest. Sometimes I have problems with making things and sometimes I don't. Before this I made another bee and it doesn't look that good really. I suppose it depends on how screwy you like your makes to look. I also tried sewing additional embellishments on it and I HATE sewing. It didn't come out well so have removed it and will replace them by using wool, my fave method.

I made a visit to HobbyCraft (the go-to craft store in the UK) but I'm constantly underwhelmed by its stock. Am I the only one who thinks that? It's no wonder I shop on Amazon.

I wanted to see if I could get some inspiration for any other crafts I could pick up, of which there weren't any. So, that will be the last time I go in there for another year or so, to be honest.

What I did discover on Instagram is a craft called filigree, the kind where you outline with metal wire. Then, if you so wish, you can use paint to fill in the little sections. Truly beautiful but probably fiddly with a steep learning curve.

One craft I'm half way to starting (i.e. I got the books and iron but not the wax) is encaustic painting. It looks so easy to do but stunning once it's completed. What do you think? Should I have a go? My concern is my lack of ability to design. I always find it difficult to come up with an idea of what to make, hence my love of kits. Yep, you guessed it!

The bird brooch and bee is part of a kit...
