On March 14, 1956, the people of Cyprus experienced a moment that would leave a permanent scar on the island’s memory. It was the day a seven-year-old boy, Dimitrakis Dimitriadi, was shot and killed by a British soldier outside the historic Church of Saint Lazarus in Larnaca.
That day, Cyprus fell silent.
The death of such a young child shook the entire nation. Grief spread from village to village and from city to city. People struggled to understand how a child—so small, so innocent—could become a victim of the violence and tensions that defined that era. The shock was so deep that silence seemed to take over everything, even the media of the time.
But the story of Dimitrakis Dimitriadi did not disappear.
For many years his name remained known mostly to those who remembered the pain of that day. Yet the spirit of the boy—his courage, his innocence, and the injustice of his death—never truly faded from the collective memory of Cyprus.
In 2021, i began A new effort began to bring his story back to life. The goal was simple but powerful: to ensure that the world would remember the child who had become one of the most symbolic young figures of Cypriot history. - T TAKE THE PLANE TO CYPRUS - after 2 hours i walk near the sant lazarus church..
While searching for a street that carried his name, i ask . An elderly man . The man’s eyes filled with tears.
“I was his friend,” he said quietly.
Then he revealed something that had stayed with him for a lifetime:

At that moment it became clear that this story had been waiting decades to be told. - i felt the BOY speak to me - the other day i go to find his crave in ayios georgios cemetary - larnaca. i ask a priest - he show me there.. - without say anything else - i looking for 10 minutes until i find a family crave - the crave of Dimitriou family - nothing about Dimitraki. - no name no photo- nothing. - i go to find the priest again. i ask - are you sure ? he told me .. - YES. - and his head go down.. - realize something happen.. - from this moment i start to speak to many people to start find his bones - to make the right monement of the biggest little hero of Cyprus..- after 2 years they find it and they make it. - the photo under is from this day i visit the crave of.. dimitriou family . - i left a note for his family t o read ..to contact.. if they want to support then..- only 1 do it.. - visit the photo album = https://ibb.co/album/Mf9xPd
After 66 years, Dimitrakis Dimitriadi was finally given a proper monument and grave. For many people, however, honoring him locally is not enough. The deeper mission is to ensure that his story becomes known beyond the island—to make it part of the world’s memory.
Because Dimitrakis was only seven years old.
He was a small boy who sold roses in the streets of Larnaca. On that tragic day, he set down the roses he was selling. Instead, he picked up a stone—a simple, desperate gesture of resistance against injustice and oppression.
It was the act of a child.
Yet it carried the courage of an entire nation.
The story of Dimitrakis Dimitriadi is more than a tragedy from the past. It is a reminder of how innocence can collide with history, and how even the smallest act of defiance can symbolize the struggle of a whole people.
From the hands of a seven-year-old boy who dropped his roses and lifted a stone, a powerful message was born:
Even the smallest among us can stand against injustice.
