Find the Resolve Project Behind an Old Rendered Video
Ever look at an old YouTube upload or rendered video file and wonder:
"Which DaVinci Resolve project did I use to make this?"
A video explaining this utility can be found here:
That was the problem I needed to solve after my own Resolve library grew to more than 1,500 projects.
This Python utility creates a searchable index of your DaVinci Resolve Project Library and lets you quickly identify the project associated with a Render Queue output filename.
What it does
Search Render Filename
Enter the filename of a rendered video and the utility searches the Render Queue information stored in your Resolve projects to help identify which project created it.
Search Everything
Perform a broader search across project names, folder paths, timelines, timeline clips, source media, and Render Queue information.
Search results can include:
• Project name
• Project Library folder location
• Render Queue job
• Output filename
• Timeline name
• Target render folder
Once the index is created, normal searches are fast because Resolve does not need to reopen hundreds or thousands of projects every time.
Simple installation
Note: A comprehensive User Manual is included with this product.
First download the zip file, extract the contents and copy the Python script to the following location:
`%APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Scripts\Utility`
Restart Resolve if necessary, then open:
Workspace → Scripts
Run the utility, click Update Index the first time, and your Resolve library becomes searchable. If you have already built the index once, you can use the "Add New Projects Only" button for a quick refresh of the index.
The index is stored separately, so you only need to update it when you want newer or changed projects included.
If you have built up a large Resolve Project Library over the years, this utility may save you a lot of time searching for old work.
Designed for DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 on Windows.
