Hello Chaps,
Sorry it has been a few weeks since my last post, but life has certainly gone up a gear with several big events recently, which have all involved time consuming activity and has dragged me away from my computer.
A few weeks ago I had the privilege of laying a wreath at the annual Military Service of Remembrance at the Bristol Memorial Woodlands in Alveston. I have been supporting this beautiful event for several years now and it is always a great honour to spend a few hours with the serving military personnel and the many veterans, who attend the event each year.
The commemoration commences with a very touching service in the lovely on-site chapel, before the attendees process to the actual remembrance monument, where wreaths are laid and the Last Post is played. The formalities over, we always retire to the splendid main building, where a fantastic buffet lunch is shared, along with banter, chat and memories from service past and hopes for the future.
Earlier this week I was also very fortunate to accept an invitation to spend the day at the All England Tennis Club for Day 1 of the annual Wimbledon Tennis Tournament. Fortunate being the operative word, as this invitation came via my wife's business, so we enjoyed a day of corporate hospitality at one of the most prestigious boxes, where a formal luncheon was enjoyed by the small number of attendees, before an afternoon of tennis on Centre Court, before cream tea in the late afternoon.
It was such a joy to see that most of my fellow corporate guests had decided to dress for the event and the general standard was, as one may expect at a major social event, but equally, I did indeed see many chaps, who thought that a polo shirt is 'formal attire'. It certainly makes you feel more comfortable in such esteemed surroundings if you look the part.
I hope that you are all taking some joy from your surroundings and are enjoying the season in whatever climate you find yourself (I appreciate it's not summer for everyone). As I look outside my office window I see that British summer time has struck again and the rain is sheeting down in my garden...... situation normal.
See you very soon.
Ash
