Being born and brought up in North India, the idea of visiting South always felt far away. Considering the stories that I heard like nobody speaks Hindi and very few speak English as well as how South Indians don't really like people from North and how the auto rickshaw guys would try to rip on you and charge triple just because you're from north. Also that you need considerably bigger budget to travel all the way down south as compared to going to Himachal or Rajasthan for example, so all these things kept me far away for all these years from the other side of my country.
But since I started following Sadhguru, I had decided that I will visit his Ashram in Coimbatore as soon as I can and I continuously worked towards reaching there from the last 2 years. And finally this November it was time for me to go down South and experience it for myself.
I took a sleeper class train from Delhi to Coimbatore where the windows are open so you can feel the fresh air from the gates and it's kind of a thrill to stand at the gate and ofcourse getting content for the audience. It was a long 45 hour journey and the change of landscape and the people in the train as well as the language and the food that was being served just felt different and refreshing in a way. I thought to myself are people actually going to be mean? Is it actually going to be a challenge traveling solo as a girl down here? All these thoughts kept me positively busy on the journey. When I reached Coimbatore Station, it was very interesting to see everything written in Tamil and people around me talking in a language I don't understand at all. I enjoyed the unknown very much and the air felt so fresh. Suddenly all those stories just dropped and I was ready to experience Tamil Nadu as it was, without any bias or backstories. Long story short, I LOVED IT!
