Overall Experience:

I had a lot of fun playing Night Plane! The game has some hilarious NPC interactions, creepy moments, and surprisingly entertaining ways to mess with the airport staff. The first-person perspective makes exploring the airport interesting, and the jump scares are genuinely effective (if only I could record with my mic on). There are a few frustrating mechanics and tutorial issues, but overall, I really enjoyed the experience.

Controls:

No controller support, which I wish the game had. I also experienced some friction when interacting with the clipboard because I could still move the camera while trying to examine something. The forced camera movements during the tutorial were particularly annoying.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is surprisingly entertaining! I love being able to pick up luggage and throw it at annoying security staff or other NPCS. You can also refuse and interrogate customers, which adds some personality to the experience. However, I wish there were a proper tutorial explaining how to perform actual flight attendant duties. The existing tutorial can be frustrating because the security guard WONT.SHUT.UP! The creepy atmosphere and jump scares are well done! One of the jump scares genuinely caught me off guard, and I almost flipped my computer over. I enjoyed exploring the airport, interacting with customers, and discovering all the ridiculous NPC behavior. There's something incredibly entertaining about being able to torment the security staff and throw luggage at employees without anyone seemingly caring. The NPC interactions are wild, unpredictable, and sometimes downright creepy!

Performance:

No major performance issues noted during my playthrough.

Music:

The background audio creates a haunting atmosphere. However, it feels more like continuous ambient sound effects than an actual music track.

Audio Design:

The NPC dialogue can become annoyly repetitive, as the security guard won't shut up and nags for your attention.

Difficulty:

The tutorial can be a little frustrating, especially when the game forces you to look at certain objects or characters. Some interactions, like returning the script to an NPC, were also a bit difficult to figure out.

Level Design/Character Design:

I really like the creative airport setting and the little details throughout the environment. The logo is particularly clever, resembling an airport flight information display (the split-flap departure and arrival boards). The blood smear adds a nice horror touch, hinting at what's to come. I also love that the options menu is located inside the cockpit! Some of the NPCs are genuinely creepy, especially when they're staring you down or getting uncomfortably close. I'm also not entirely sure what the advertisement posters are supposed to contribute to the airport environment, but I'm here for them.

AI-Generated Content Disclosure:

None

Unique Features Discovered:

  • You can refuse and interrogate customers.

  • NPCs have some hilarious and unpredictable reactions.

Pros:

  • Creative and memorable logo design.

  • Great horror atmosphere.

  • Genuinely effective jump scares.

  • Entertaining NPC interactions.

  • Being able to throw luggage at annoying security staff!

  • The ability to refuse and interrogate customers.

Cons:

  • No controller support.

  • Security Guard dialogue becomes repetitive and annoying

  • Camera movement can interfere with examining objects.

  • Forced camera movements during the tutorial are frustrating.

  • Some interactions are difficult to figure out.

  • The tutorial doesn't adequately explain actual flight attendant duties.

  • The Discord logo blocks the return button.

Suggestions for Improvement:

  • Add controller support.

  • Adjust the tutorial's forced camera movements to make them less intrusive.

  • Add a proper tutorial explaining flight attendant responsibilities and interactions.

  • The security guard does NOT need to say "Hey" every damn second.

  • Reposition the Discord logo so it doesn't block the return button.

Summary:

Night Plane is such a fun experience! I really enjoyed the first-person gameplay, creepy NPCs, ridiculous interactions, and unexpected horror elements. Being able to torment the security staff by throwing luggage at them is an absolute highlight. The jump scares are surprisingly effective, and the airport setting has some creative touches that make the experience memorable. While the tutorial and a few mechanics could use some improvements, I had a genuinely great time playing this demo. I'm definitely going to have fun editing this review!
