Boogie while you consider the incredible story of Francois Clemmons and Fred Rogers—we pay tribute to how Clemmons broke barriers as one of the first black actors to portray a police officer on television, putting Clemmons in an uncomfortable position, subverting the norm, and provide an ongoing message for today.
The album cover portrays the iconic foot washing pool scene, which was depicted twice in the Mr. Rogers show—a subtle but subversive challenge to a racially charged dispute over public pools and beaches around the time of the initial broadcast.
Plus, enjoy a fresh take on Public Enemy's "Harder Than You Think"—a group known for speaking on consciously black topics. This song and group are a long-time Royal Ruckus favorite, with lyrical themes in line with these records, so it was a really fun thing for DJ Sean P and Chunjay to conspire on licensing and covering this song. We hope you enjoy the re-creation, and find strength through the lyrics and music.
