Chernihiv Library for Youth

In March, bulldozers dug trenches on the outskirts of Chernihiv in northern Ukraine. At that time, Chernihiv had been under an effective blockade for more than two weeks, leaving most buildings without electricity, heat and water. Roads and bridges leading from the city were either bombed or were now the site of active fighting between Russian and Ukrainian troops. All this time, the Russian military covered Chernihiv with rocket and mortar fire, turning the city into a deadly trap.

On March 6, 2022, during the siege of Chernihiv and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the library was damaged. Then, from about 10 to 11 March 2022, the library was partially destroyed.
