Shaken

Call it the jitters,

The shakes or the trembles,

Nothing compares to anxiety,

Nothing at all resembles.

Whether a worry or fear,

It can mean everything,

There's no limit with anxiety,

It really is its own king.

Provoked by trauma,

Grown from younger years,

Anything goes and can trigger,

This mighty beast of fear.

It'll make you cry or scream,

Sometimes you wanna give up,

Like being locked in a confined space,

Sometimes it feels like too much.

The worst character in a novel,

The worst villain in a flick,

So easily personified,

So easy to trick.

Conquer and life improves,

But anxiety never really goes away,

It follows you like a puppy,

Playing hopeless and astray.

I call it being shaken,

Caught in an anxiety net,

A trap so crippling,

I haven't disarmed it yet.
