This reflection comes from something I’ve been thinking about more deeply—especially after writing about the stress experienced by hospital-based nurses and hearing the stories of nurses I’ve been mentoring.
There are moments in nursing that stay with you, not because of what you did, but because of how it made you feel.
I share some of my own hospital-based experiences on YouTube because, although they took place a few decades ago, they are surprisingly similar to what nurses are experiencing today.
I talk more openly about these stressful experiences, especially the kind that aren’t always visible. Over the past fifty years, I’ve gained insight and perspective that I hope can help.
If you’ve felt some of this stress, you’re not alone.
