Iain and I recently had the pleasure of exploring a couple of walks through the breathtaking Mawddach area in Eryri National Park. So beautiful! The Eryri National Park website was my trusty guide, offering a fantastic list of walks with downloadable PDFs that are super helpful for navigating this stunning landscape.

The first walk was a leisurely stroll: Farchynys. The second was a little more adventurous: Clogau Trail. Our goal is to walk them all. That's two ticked off, forty more to go! Actually we want to go back to the miney part of the Clogau Trail as we didn't have time to explore the mine area very well.

My heart finds real joy and peace exploring the hills, valleys, woodlands, and abandoned places of Wales. Lately, though, my illustration projects have been keeping me glued to my desk, and my photography adventures have taken a bit of a back seat. It’s a bit of a double-edged sword because while I love my work, the sedentary lifestyle has added a few pounds! 😅

I've been using my little iPad as a camera and capturing the moment has become more spontaneous. It might not boast the picture quality of my Nikon D5600, but it’s incredibly convenient. The immediate satisfaction of a good shot without the need for post-processing in Adobe Lightroom is a win. It's so light to carry and takes up very little room in my bag, unlike the Nikon. Plus, the iPad’s film quality is pretty good. I’ve been collecting movie snippets on our adventures and posting them on my YouTube channel, 'WelshVistas'. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I’d love for you to take a peek! Not many films as yet, but I truly want to get better at film making and grow my channel.

Despite my packed schedule, I’m determined to get out more often. Not only do I need the exercise, but I think that being in nature fuels my creativity. There’s nothing more fulfilling than exploring these fabulous locations, attemtping to capture some of the magic on film, and then sharing them on Tumblr, hoping that people will enjoy them and perhaps weave them into their own narrative.

I’ve just embarked on a new illustration project, so time is tight again. But making room for my health and my passion for exploring is a priority. More walks, more photos, and hopefully a more active and productive me!

Happy exploring and creating to you!

With love, Petra 🌸
