Recently I have been working with Jennie Phillips coach and mentor at Vitality Fitness Studio in Troy Illinois. We cultivated 4 videos based on Sleep, Stress, Exercise (movement) and Nutrition (which isn't out yet). These past few weeks we have been exploring exercise or movement as she calls it. Movement is such a great way to explain the simple steps she uses for those suffering with chronic illness and also those who just need to get back to exercise.
Traditionally exercise is always intense and garners up images of body builders in a gym sweating and working hours on their glutes or pecs. Jennie helps to switch that image to another channel where life is the focus. This image is one of simple bending, lifting, every day steps to help one not loose their independence in life. Example of can you simply get out of a chair or lift things around the house; these simple steps that keep a person living an independent life and not relying on help.
Chronic illness takes such a toll on a person and being able to do the simple things like taking a bath or shower without help, walking to the mailbox, making dinner; these are all tasks that have to be completed to live independently. This resonates not only in the chronic illness scene but also in the aging scene. Jennie really helps discuss things to do with this and how to gain back your independence on it.
We dive into the mental health pool and how exercise works with our stress and thoughts. Maintaining mental health is something that continues to be a constant struggle when you suffer from debilitating disease or condition.
She also talks about posture and Christina helps her demonstrate absolute poor posture and how simple movements can help strengthen that!
I invite you to take a look at this video and share with others who suffer or could benefit from this!
