It seems like there’s been some misunderstanding, so I thought I’d clear things up a bit. 😊
Umm… where should I start, huh?
First off, I’ve never taken money from anyone in exchange for LN PDFs—everything on my Discord server and YouTube channel is completely free.
Now, you’re probably thinking, “Eh… what about the donations and memberships?” Well, those are entirely optional. If you feel I haven’t done enough to deserve your support, that’s fine—you don’t need to support me, and I respect your opinion. No one ever asked me to do this, so I get it if some people don’t care. That said, I genuinely believe I’ve put a lot of effort into building this community, creating a Discord server, running the YouTube channel, creating Google Drive folders for various LN series, and sometimes even making PDFs for many LNs by myself. My YouTube channel has been around for three years, while Discord, donations, and memberships are relatively new, just about 3–4 months old.
If you’ve ever tried downloading LN PDFs yourself, you know it’s not as simple as it seems. You have to sift through countless websites, deal with endless ads, and repeat the process just to get a single volume. I’ve done that countless times to make things easier for everyone else. And let’s be real—when you’re downloading PDFs from pirate sites, you’re not supporting the author either; you’re just supporting those sites by viewing their ads.
Also, have you noticed that there are no ads when you click on links on my Discord server or YouTube channel? Hehe. 😊
As for memberships—yes, I get your point to some extent. But they’re not just about providing LN PDFs. Memberships are for people who want to save time by letting someone else handle the tedious process of searching, downloading, organizing, and storing the PDFs. Think of it less as paying for LNs and more like a manual labor fee. Plus, it’s really about their generosity and support toward me and the community more than the perks themselves.
My Discord server and YouTube channel also give you a chance to connect with others who share the same passion for reading LNs, help you discover new series, and even find new reading friends. So yeah, I do think I’ve done a little work—not necessarily enough to deserve money, but maybe a word or two of thanks. 😅
Now, let’s talk about the member's perks for a bit:
LN Requests
When someone becomes a member, it doesn’t just help me—it helps everyone. Every time a member requests an LN series, it means one more series becomes available for everyone in the light-novel-pdf channel, on my Discord server. And in hindsight, it’s more like, a member is recommending a LN to the entire community.
Discord Roles
Honestly, I still don’t fully understand Discord roles myself. But my basic understanding is that they’re fancy name tags below your username. Whether or not they have any real impact on the server is debatable, but hey—they look cool, right?
Members-Only Chat
This is basically just another version of the general chat but with less crowd and higher priority for replies when I’m busy. That’s pretty much it.
Members-Only Posts
This channel is where I share random life updates, personal struggles, and thoughts on various things. I also post regular updates on what new things I’m planning to add to my Discord server or YouTube channel, and sometimes upload stuffs which I can’t post on YouTube—plus, occasional funny posts. There will also be polls to help decide which LN series to add next or what kind of video you’d like me to create (if I make one).
So yeah, that’s pretty much all the stupid stuff there is in membership!
