Happy Thanksgiving!

Tornado Modified Referral Links

This tip comes from RWN reader, Stanley H. If you have the investing app, Tornado, they have changed the referral links they use. If you refer this app, be sure to update your links to be sure your signups track as expected. It's possible the old links still work, but I notice the new link adds info like "branch_referrer" and other info to the url when clicked. Here are Stanley's links, for example (feel free to use them to sign up if you are interested in signing up).

Upgrade Reminder and Update

As a reminder from last week: Upgrade paused their referral program until further notice. RWN supporter, Haley Meyers, received confirmation from Upgrade that they ARE still honoring all signups prior to 11/11. If you signed up prior to them pausing the promotion, you can still earn your $100 signup bonus! You should have received your debit card by now (if you haven't, you call 1-844-319-3909, or email [email protected]). Activate it, deposit enough to make three spend transactions anywhere, for any amount to trigger the bonus, and you'll receive your $100 in 2-3 business days. I triggered the bonus by depositing $3 and reloading my Amazon gift card balance with $1 three times. Screenshot credit: Haley Meyers

Fetch's $4 Referral Bonuses End Today

https://fetchrewards.onelink.me/vvv3/referraltext?code=XRGUGB - code XRGUGB

Fetch's Thanksgiving $4 referral bonus ends today, and will return to the standard $2 referral bonus. Signups are unaffected and remain at the standard $2 signup bonus.

11/23/22

First and foremost: I want to wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving weekend. I hope you will be spending it with family and/or loved ones. May your bellies and your hearts be full!

The Afterparty

Thursday: The opportunity to be Thankful for what we have.
Friday: Crazy deals to acquire what we don't have!

For any of you partaking in Black Friday, and/or Small Business Saturday, here are a few links which will hopefully help you out. Each are featured lists I've put together with signup bonuses along with tips on how to maximize earnings and savings:

I Saved $780 on my Hotel Booking, Thanks to Hopper!

https://sharing.hopper.com/refer/johnm8e4

** 11:36PM PST Update: My referral link/code lowered to $10 signup/referral bonuses. I don't know whether this lowered for everyone, or just for me today because of my booking a hotel with my first set of $30 bonuses yesterday. I will be reaching out to the company to find out the specifics. In the meantime, if you find a $30 referral link, I still HIGHLY recommend you jump on this deal. Unfortunately, I no longer have the $30 promo. **

If you read my blog post the other day about the brand new $30 bonus promotion from Hopper, then you know how you just sign up, download the app, enter your name, email and referral code - johnm8e4 - and we both instantly get $30 credit to use for our next hotel stay. The beauty of this app is that you can STACK your referral bonuses and apply them to your hotel booking. Plus, you can refer up to 200 people, earning up to $6,000. To my knowledge, NO OTHER HOTEL BOOKING APP LETS YOU DO THIS! To give you an idea of what a big deal this is... I haven't taken any sort of vacation since 2018 - pre-pandemic. I have a weekend getaway coming up and this Hopper promotion came at the perfect time. I signed up Friday and shared my referral link and code Friday through Monday. In JUST THREE DAYS, I earned $780 in signup and referral bonuses that I was able to use to book the exact hotel I wanted (rated 4.5* on TripAdvisor)! Proof below. Note that I could have easily waited 1-2 more days and maybe gotten a few more signups and the entire stay for free, but when I cross-referenced the hotel on tripadvisor and other hotel sites, they all said there was only one of the rooms I want left and I didn't want to risk it, so I booked it. I called the hotel this morning and confirmed the reservation, and even got a free upgrade to a more spacious room after requesting it for free (it never hurts to ask)!

If you - or someone you know - plan on staying at a hotel at any time in the near future, especially with the holidays upon us, you will not find a better deal than what Hopper is offering. $30 is already the highest bonus among the hotel booking app bonuses, and Hopper is the only one that allows you to stack referral bonuses like this! No purchase is required to earn the bonuses, and again, minimal information is required to sign up. I strongly urge you to sign up and start referring this app before A) it gets saturated, and B) before Hopper decides to change the rules so that you can't stack the rewards.

Nearside Shuts Down - CHECK YOUR EMAILS!

Nearside emailed members to inform us that have shut down and closed all accounts, effective immediately. All transfers will be declined, and if you had any funds in your bank account, you may need to use this link to contact them by 11/25/22 for them to make arrangements to provide you the funds. Note: If you had over a certain amount in your account, you likely received an email stating that they'll be automatically sending you a refund check. I'm not clear what that "certain amount" is. I only had a penny in my account and received a version of the email stating that I had two days to reach out if I want my penny; otherwise, the funds will be escheated to the state your business resides starting November 28th. My other half had $50 and isn't required to reach out, instead getting a refund check automatically.

Rhove Ending in December

Nearside isn't the only company shutting down. Rhove sent an email out to members today, informing members of their closure on 12/23/22. Unlike Nearside, Rhove gave 30 days notice and also informed members in the email that as of today, they initiated full refunds to all customers for all cash deposits and investments made using Rhove, along with explaining why they are shutting down (being unable to raise funds for company operations in the current bear market).

What isn't clear in the email - I never signed up for Rhove; perhaps someone who has knows - is whether they will be honoring sign up and/or referral bonuses. It can be argued that the rewards bonuses fall under the "investments made" category, but in Referral World, we've seen companies worm their way out of owed bonuses time and time again.

11/21/22

TheTenn, or TheZero?

TheTenn is a new banking app that went viral in Referral World, late last week. They offered what looked to be a very impressive referral bonus program, offering everything from $5 gift cards to a Macbook Pro. Even though they are in beta and members join the waitlist, they were supposed to be able to receive their referral bonuses immediately.

Many referrers jumped on this opportunity. Because, as I've mentioned before, being among the first to sign up can make a huge difference ("the early bird catches the worm"). That said, there's always a gamble. At first, it seemed promising. TheTenn showed "top referrers" and other promo materials that gave these referrers a sense of trust and dependability. TheTenn even allowed people to withdraw their earned rewards. Once redeemed, referrers would receive their rewards within 24 hours (I don't know offhand if this was actually stated anywhere, or if it was just assumed that this was the case).

Then came the issues. The app, at times, was completely down. Other times, referrers were unable to claim rewards at certain times. Screenshot credit: Haley Meyers (original credit unknown)

And later, referrers began receiving a few variations of "sorry" emails, such as this one that Tricia Kord received:Screenshot credit: Tricia Kord

It's still possible that TheTenn will come through with what they promised referrers and reward them their earned bonuses. I will say that my gut told me from the beginning that this app sounded too good to be true, which is why I didn't personally sign up. It reminded me of other fly-by-night apps/promotions, including Moocho, StartEngine, Coderons - just to name a few - where the companies reneged on referral promotions and refused to pay out what referrers were owed. I hope, for the sake of everyone in Referral World who has signed up and referred others, that TheTenn does right by them.
