A popular argument used by Christian missionaries today is to claim that the noble Qurʾān affirms the reliability, truth, and authority of the Bible. As Muslims we know that the Qurʾān does not affirm the Bible. Different duʿāt have proposed a myriad of rebuttals, but I would like to share my own solution to the claim in a simple and direct manner. I have found that my solution is readily understood by both Muslims and non-Muslims, and I hope that by sharing it with you today that it may also benefit your daʿwah.
Qurʾān 2:2 (translation: The Clear Quran by Dr. Mustafa Khattab) reads as follows:
This is the Book! There is no doubt about it—a guide for those mindful ˹of Allah˺
From this āyah we can deduce that there are two categories of books (or revelation) at the time of the Messenger ﷺ.
The Qurʾān is the only book/ revelation without doubt at the time of the Prophet ﷺ. As you can see this is a direct, clear, and unambiguous argument that anyone can understand. Other popular translations of the Qurʾān align with this categorization:
This Book has no doubt in it - a guidance for the God-fearing — translation by Taqi Usmani; emphasis added
This is the Scripture in which there is no doubt, containing guidance for those who are mindful of God — translation by M.A.S. Abdel Haleem; emphasis added
and Allāh knows best.
