Johnny and Donna (Sunken Love)

Johnny and Donna (Sunken Love)

Oct 28, 2025

imageLove should be to the harm of none,
even when young and know no better

Two broken kids,
sunk in love
extended parts of themselves
sorely touched by others before.

Unhealed scars from wounds still exposed.
Were the patterns abusive in nature?
Perhaps just the distortion of learned behavior.

You can’t see anything from the same lens
after you’ve grown past it.
You can only hope the other grazes in the same greener pasture.

Not excusing anything prior-
Their actions were deplorable.
But maybe, instead of slapping a label on it,
one as superhero, the other needing saving,
we can uncover the blanket of security
that only protected from the truth.

Call it what it was.
Two kids.
Sunken love.

Storm clouds cascaded
what could’ve been a happily ever after,
the beloved fairytale of a soulmate.

As fate would have it,
their love formed life.
Even from the dead, life flows.
Forming a soul mating them eternally.

He arose.
A sun.
Maybe to give the kids who made him
 a second chance —
to live as the children they were meant to be.

With love that conquers,
not the kind that sinks.
