You ain’t gotta lie, boo. We all got excuses…

Feb 17, 2025

Hey Tribe,

I hate to admit this, but obedience really does bring peace. Like... ugh I'm so sorry to tell you this. I wanted the answer to be something more exciting like praise and worship was enough, but nah—it's obedience chile. Surrendering to God (which, by the way, is my word of the year) has been shifting everything for me. My habits. My mindset. My approach to literally everything.

But here’s the thing about obedience—it’s not just about listening to what God says. It’s about taking the necessary steps to doing it. And whew, did I get called out on that recently.

The Holy Drag (via YouTube)

I was watching a video from a faith-based creator, and at the end, she said, “Go back to the thing God asked you to do.” That hit my spirit like a freight train. Because I knew what God had been telling me—make faith-based videos. And I had not obeyed in the way I should have. I did my little one two here and there, but it wasn't what He asked of me.

Oh, you know I had my excuses. The lighting isn’t great. My hair ain't done. I got this pimple on my forehead. But deep down, I knew those were just excuses. Reasons to keep delaying what God already confirmed. I was avoiding what could actually bring me peace.

And here’s the wild part—when God is ready for you to obey, nothing will get in your way. The timing, the resources, the clarity—it all lines up. And yet, we’ll still try to pull excuses out of thin air. ( You ain't gotta lie boo,  we know you’ve done it too! 😂)

Delayed Obedience is Still Disobedience

What if the very thing you’re avoiding is the thing that’s supposed to bring you peace or your next blessing? What if obedience isn’t about the task itself but about trusting God to keep His promises and lead you to the life He’s preparing for you?

That’s what I’m learning. That obedience isn’t just a moment—it’s a muscle. And the more we exercise it, the more naturally we collaborate with God. The more we trust, the more peaceful we become.

Your Turn: A Little Reflection

I want to leave you with this: What’s the thing God has been asking you to do?

Maybe it’s something big, maybe it’s something small. But you know what it is.

  • What’s holding you back?

  • Are you making excuses instead of moving?

  • And most importantly—do you believe that trusting Him in this will actually bring you peace?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. If this hit home for you, hit reply and share—what’s the thing God has been nudging you to do? Let’s hold each other accountable, because this obedience thing? It’s not easy, but it's necessary.

With grace and (reluctant) obedience,

Gianina
