So recently I have been talking to a lot of the people in the fountain pen community and I am a maximalist - I go all out I don't go half in to anything I do and that can often be a problem.
I recently brought a Endless Pen Case from Pulp Addiction, the five pen version, I have a smaller Pelikan 2 pen case that I purchased from Ada and the amazing team at BookBinders Design in Melbourne CBD.
We talk about about the pen community in a boarder picture of every thing being sorted and working nicely and in a lot of cases that's the case of it, but can I manage with 5 pens.
I am not currently sure if I can or if I am actually as crazy as hell, currently I have more than five fountain pens inked up - there's a couple that don't currently fit in my case that are inked up but there's a rhyme and reasoning to that. (TWSBI SWIPE, TWSBI GO, Faber-Castell E-Motion, Conklin All American)
So you've got a five-space fountain pen case what have you filled it with? For me that is what is currently seated in the case and that's for good reason for me, lol.
1) That Pen Bloke - Sunfyre, the Sunfyre is a Jowo Fine Nib, this is a really nice pen and has become quite a wet fine nib, and there's nothing wrong with that at all, it's inked with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black this black is one of my classic favorites in black inks, it's either Brilliant Black by Pelikan or Pearl Black by Kaweco as my top two blacks.
2) Pilot Capless Matte Black - the scratch of the pilot EF nib is unique to the EF, the sweet spot with Pilot for smoothness is a Fine Nib. This is a Gold Nib so it's a nice writing experience but it's not always what people are looking for to be honest and that's just a fact of life. Inked with Pilot Kon-Peki which is a really nice blue, it's been inked with it in cartridge form - I brought a few cartridges to work out what I liked in the range of Pilot inks.
3) Lamy Scala - Infinite Orange - this EF is buttery smooth and the glide across the paper is next level and for that I love that from this pen and the infinite orange finish is beyond amazing, I am so happy I have finally started to ink that one up to be honest with you. This is using the converter, it's inked with Lamy Black however ever if I run out of ink of the road, I have no issues grabbing Lamy T10's from most places in the black.
4) Graf Von Faber-Castell Tamitio Night Blue - This color is no longer made by Graf Von Faber-Castell and I was very lucky that Lee at the pen place had this one and was able to call in a favor for me to get a new nib swap sorted by Faber-Castell Australia, and next thing we knew the Medium was a Fine - at the moment I have three steel nibs with Faber-Castell, Medium, EF and Fine. the Medium is a wet medium. The EF or the Fine is the sweet spot for me personally.
5) TWSBI Eco Heat - The ECO I have is in a fine nib once again a steel nib, you will find most of my ens are steel nibs, this I refer to as my correction pen, as it's inked with Fu-Yake by Pilot which is a orange/reddish ink.
Ink Cartridge Spot: For me I travel a lot and none of the pens in this case use a converter, though there's a piston filled one in the case, the TWSBI, most of the other pens have cheap and easy to replace ink in it but my Capless has Pilot Kon-Peki and in Cartridge form these aren't always in stock it very much depends on where you are shopping to be honest. So it's a Kon-Peki Cartridge though the Pilot Capless is the least reached for pen in my rotation in the case.
