The workshop will be followed by a free event titled “In Conversation with Ameera Aslam” from 6-7pm. Complimentary refreshments will be available between 5-6pm.
About the workshop facilitator:
Ameera Aslam is a bestselling author, award-winning poet, translator, editor, and activist from Singapore. Her work has appeared in various publications locally and internationally. Her first poetry anthology, Desiring Light, won the Daybreak Press Book Awards in 2021. Her third book, When You Think You’re Falling, published in March 2024, has been on multiple bestseller lists, including Singapore’s national newspaper, The Straits Times, for several weeks.
In addition to her writing, Ameera conducts workshops and is frequently invited to speak on writing, poetry, activism, and using one’s voice.
Her activism includes speaking out against domestic violence and supporting domestic violence survivors, as well as raising awareness and funds for migrant workers in Singapore (#SGMuslims4MigrantWorkers).
