I have no story to share, just a few pictures you may like to see.
It was probably just past sunset when I got on my bike and cycled south of the village to the area where you find agriculture and the wetlands a bit further to the south.
You might recognize the lonely tower that we left standing as a beacon for shipping. I wrote about it in previous newsletters. It is all that is left of the village of Koudekerke, which was washed away by the sea.
We left it standing here; a long, long time ago.
This spot is close to the tiny village of Burghsluis. On the left, you can see the masts of sailing ships in the small harbor.
Earlier today, I was in Zierikzee, which led me to write about my family history on this island. You will find that article here.
And yesterday, I wrote about my early morning bike ride to a deserted stretch of beach. You can read it here, and it includes a four-minute video impression.
Oh, and I was in Turnhout, Belgium a few days ago, where I made this Alexnote. I'm glad to share it with you here.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
(if you are still here: as so often, pop music lyrics do pop up in my speeches and writing. That line was indeed from the Long and Winding Road).
Just one more shot of this evening. Another example of the very dry conditions is the scarcity of water left remaining in the small pond on the left.
